Between the two of us, Renee and Sarah have spent decades inside the work — not just advising from the outside, but doing it. Economic development. Workforce strategy. Grant writing under impossible deadlines. Community planning processes where the room is full of people who fundamentally disagree with each other. We've celebrated the wins that took years to earn. We've also sat across from local leaders after a funding rejection and figured out what to do next. That experience — the full picture of it, not just the highlight reel — is what we bring to every client.

We're a small team, and we're intentional about that. When you work with Thrive, you're working with us — not handed off to a junior associate while we move on to the next project.

That matters more than it might seem. Community and economic development work is deeply relational. Trust takes time to build and seconds to lose. We've watched large firms parachute into communities, produce a beautiful 80-page plan, and disappear. The community is left holding a document and wondering what happens next.
We don't do that. We stay in it.

WHY WE STARTED THRIVE

Honestly? Because we kept seeing the same gap: communities and organizations with real potential, clear vision, and dedicated people — who were stuck. Not for lack of effort, but for lack of the right support at the right time.

Sometimes that looked like a nonprofit sitting on a transformational idea with no idea how to fund it. Sometimes it was a small town that had already done the hard work of building consensus, only to stall when it came time to execute. Sometimes it was a leader who was doing everything right but burning out because they were doing it alone.

Thrive exists to bridge that gap. Strategy to funding to execution — and we stay engaged through all of it.
